Fluence has one of the most experienced management teams in the energy storage sector, with a proven track-record of managing high-growth, international operations for global industrial and technology companies.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Julian Nebreda leads the Fluence team and its efforts to accelerate energy storage adoption globally, and to transform the way we power our world to ensure a more sustainable future. He brings over 20 years of experience in the energy industry as well as his expertise as a Fluence board member since September 2021.
Prior to joining Fluence, Julian was President of the South America Strategic Business Unit of The AES Corporation since October 2018. Mr. Nebreda has also acted as the President of the AES Brazil Strategic Business Unit from April 2016 to October 2018, and the President of the Europe Strategic Business Unit from 2009 to April 2016. Prior to that, Mr. Nebreda held several senior positions, such as Vice President for Central America and Caribbean from 2007 to 2009, Chief Executive Officer of Electricidad de Caracas from 2005 to 2007, and President of AES Dominicana, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Nebreda serves as Chairman of the Board of AES Andes and AES Brasil. Before joining AES, Julian held positions in the public and private sectors, namely he served as Counsellor to the Executive Director from Panama and Venezuela at the Inter-American Development Bank from 1993 to 1999.
Mr. Nebreda earned a law degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. He also earned a Master of Laws in common law with a Fulbright fellowship and a Master of Laws in securities and financial regulations, both from Georgetown University.
SVP & Chief Financial Officer
Ahmed Pasha is responsible for overseeing the execution of all financial activities including the capital investments, financial reporting, planning, tax, insurance, credit management, IT, and investor relations. He has been Chief Financial Officer since 2024.
Prior to joining Fluence, Mr. Pasha was with the AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) for nearly 27 years where he served in various positions including CFO of AES' US Utilities, CFO of AES Asia, Global Treasurer & Head of Investor Relations and Business Development lead in Asia and Europe. In 2019, he was recognized by Institutional Investor as "Best IR Professional" in the Electric Utilities sector. Prior to joining Fluence, he worked with Deloitte Asia advising multinational clients on tax strategy and financial planning. Ahmed holds a Bachelor of Finance from the University of Punjab and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
SVP & Chief Growth Officer
As Chief Growth Officer, Jeff Monday is responsible for accelerating Fluence’s global growth strategy and drive the company’s expansion into emerging markets.
Jeff brings over two decades of experience leading sales organizations at some of the world’s most innovative technology companies. He has a proven ability to scale organizations, transform go-to-market models, and deliver growth. Prior to joining Fluence, Jeff served as Vice President, Global Enterprise and Channel Sales at Qualcomm. There, he launched Qualcomm’s first enterprise sales team, driving 46% CAGR across 21 countries.
Prior to Qualcomm, Jeff held a series of leadership roles at Apple, including Small Business Sales Leader for the U.S., Worldwide Business Transformation Leader, and Enterprise Sales Leader for the Western U.S. During his tenure, he scaled Apple’s U.S. Small Business division from $500M to $3.5B in three years and helped launch new incubated business lines in partnership with Apple’s executive leadership. Including leading the team that displaced BlackBerry from the corporate enterprise.
Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with an emphasis in game theory from UC Irvine.
SVP & Chief Product and Supply Chain Officer
As Chief Product and Supply Chain Officer, Pete Williams oversees the Company’s unified product and supply chain organization, with the view of accelerating our product development cycle and continue strengthening our ability to offer solutions at competitive prices and unmatched capabilities.
Pete brings more than 20 years' experience with a proven track record in operational excellence, supply chain transformation, contract manufacturer management, merger and acquisition integration and organization development to support Fluence’s continued global growth and expansion. Before joining Fluence, Pete served as Senior Vice President, Global Operations and Supply Chain for Rogers Corporation. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Global Operations for MKS Instruments. Pete has also held senior management positions in Operations at Photon Dynamics and Applied Materials. Early in his career Pete was a Spacecraft Systems Engineer for Lockheed Martin Corporation.
Pete received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose State University.
SVP & Chief Customer Success Officer
As SVP & Chief Customer Success Officer, John is responsible for driving customer satisfaction and long-term value focusing on end-to-end project execution. Prior to this role, John acted as president of Americas where he was responsible for go-to-market implementation and honing customer-centric solutions for customers in the region. In addition, John previously acted as chief operating officer where he directed the Fluence teams that create and deliver storage solutions and services to leading customers around the world.
John was a cofounder of AES Energy Storage in 2007, a recognized market leader, and led AES' team in pioneering nearly 500 MW of utility-scale applications of battery-based energy storage projects in the U.S., Chile, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, the Philippines, and the Dominican Republic.
Accomplishments include the deployment of the world’s largest grid connected lithium ion battery (five times), the first power purchase agreement for energy storage at the 100MW Alamitos Power Center, and the first multi-megawatt scale storage systems approved in six countries.
John is a regular industry speaker on energy storage, innovation, and leadership and is often quoted on these topics in mainstream and industry journals. Prior to energy storage, John worked at AES in retail power and fiber telecommunications, and as a consultant and market analyst to the telecommunications industry.
John holds a master's degree in public policy from the University of Michigan and a bachelor's in economics and social science from Florida State University.
SVP & Chief Enterprise Operations Officer
As SVP & Chief Enterprise Operations Officer at Fluence, Roman Loosen leads the continuous improvement and quality of our overall operating model, and accelerating implementation of our strategic objectives at Fluence.
Prior to joining Fluence, Roman worked for more than 20 years at Siemens, implementing proven business transformation strategies in various roles and countries across the Siemens organization. Roman most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of the Global Competitiveness program for Siemens Smart Infrastructure, consistently overachieving the profit improvement targets communicated to the capital markets. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer and in operational roles for various business units within Siemens, at which time, he implemented revenue transformation strategies and drove record profits. Over his more than two decades with Siemens, Roman has developed a proven track record in strategically growing new businesses and guiding accelerated organizational change.
Roman holds an MBA from FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management (Germany) as well as two bachelor’s degrees – a bachelor’s in Commercial Economics from Hogeschool Zeeland (Netherlands) and a bachelor’s in Business/Managerial Economics from Hessian Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie (Germany).
SVP, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and Secretary
Vincent Mathis is Fluence’s lead attorney and has more than 20 years of legal experience counseling diverse global businesses.
Prior to joining Fluence, Vincent served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Stride. He also served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Secretary and Chief of Staff to the CEO at The AES Corporation where he earlier was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Prior to his roles at The AES Corporation, Vincent was an Executive Vice President and General Counsel at ContourGlobal, LLC, a private international energy company. Previously, he worked for Venable, LLP, Shearman and Sterling, LLP, and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Vincent formerly served on the board of directors of Indianapolis Power and Light Company Enterprises, Inc., AES Tietê Energia S.A., and AES Elpa S.A.
In addition, he previously served on the board of directors at IPALCO Enterprises, Inc., DPL Inc. and The Dayton Power and Light Company and was Chairman of Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de São Paulo S.A. He holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from The University of Richmond.
SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer
As Chief Human Resources Officer, Andrea Fisher is responsible for Fluence’s global HR strategy and deployment, enabling the business and its employees to fulfill their full potential. Andrea and her global team drive all HR initiatives and operations, including organizational development, business partnering, talent management, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, and payroll, among others.
Andrea brings over 25 years of human resources experience to the role. She joined Fluence in September 2023, previously serving as the company’s Global Head of Talent and Culture and Vice President of HR for the Americas. Prior to joining Fluence, Andrea served as Senior Vice President of HR and Head of Talent at Edelman Financial Engines. Her background includes extensive leadership in talent management and mobility, having served as Vice President of Talent, Internal Mobility, and Workforce Planning at General Dynamics, and Senior Vice President, Head of Talent Management at Fidelity Investments. She also held senior talent acquisition roles at TD Bank, ServiceMaster, and Wells Fargo.
Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Western Michigan University. She has previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Washington and Cornell University.
SVP, Chief Strategy Officer
In his leadership role at Fluence, Marek leads the Global Strategy, Partnerships & M&A team. He provides in-depth industry and market insights to Fluence and its customers and partners while driving growth.
Prior to joining Fluence, Marek was a managing director of strategic partnerships, energy storage at The AES Corporation, where he was instrumental in the development of key storage projects throughout the world, as well as the transition of the storage business from AES to Fluence.
Previously, Marek was part of the Infrastructure Investment arm of Partners Group, a global private equity firm and part of the Valuation & Strategy team at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He also founded several startups in the technology space.
Marek holds an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Diplom-Kaufmann degree from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.
